The Telegraph Hotel - The Leading Hotels of the World

Housed in a beautifully restored Soviet modernist telegraph building on Rustaveli Avenue, this luxury design hotel features a striking aesthetic by Neri & Hu. While guests praise its exceptional dining, top-tier gym, and central location, the hotel is held back by awkward standard room layouts and occasional service inconsistencies. Multiple guests have also raised safety concerns regarding missing items, necessitating the careful use of room safes.

Best for

• Design Enthusiasts and Aesthetes — The hotel is an architectural masterpiece that beautifully blends raw Soviet brutalism with refined contemporary chic and meticulous attention to detail.
• Gourmets and Food Lovers — Guests can enjoy legendary à la carte breakfasts featuring signature syrniki alongside multiple sophisticated on-site dining concepts like Laan Thai and Philosophico.
• Fitness Enthusiasts — The property boasts one of the most spacious and best-equipped hotel gyms in Georgia, complete with professional equipment and trainers.

Not ideal for

• Colleagues and Families Sharing Rooms — Standard rooms feature fully transparent glass partitions between the sleeping area and the bathroom, offering zero privacy.
• Security-Sensitive Travellers — Several independent guests have reported alarming incidents of missing personal belongings and purchases from their rooms prior to checkout.

Rating breakdown

• A+Location — Perfectly positioned on bustling Rustaveli Avenue near major attractions, with excellent soundproofing to block out street noise.
• B-Rooms — Impeccable visual styling and premium bedding are compromised by narrow, cramped layouts and transparent bathroom walls in standard categories.
• B-Service — Top management is highly attentive and personally resolves issues, but line staff can be indifferent and room service is slow.
• ADining — An absolute triumph, featuring exceptional buffet and à la carte breakfasts alongside highly popular Italian and Thai restaurants.
• B+Facilities — Features an outstanding professional gym and high-class spa, though guests must walk to an adjacent building to use a worn-out partner pool.
• B-Value — While the design and dining are world-class, the ergonomic flaws of entry-level rooms and service lapses dent the overall value proposition.

Verdict

The Telegraph Hotel is a stunning, design-forward destination in central Tbilisi perfect for solo travellers, couples, and food lovers who appreciate striking architecture. However, those travelling with companions who require bathroom privacy or those highly sensitive to security concerns may want to look elsewhere.
